What's going on in the river?
June 15 was a sunny, dry day, but, unfortunately the water was so high from all the rain, we could not go under the Bridge. We were really looking forward to those cruises. Oh well, at least there was no rain. We did stay on the boat and Liz from Haddam gave lectures about the bridge (Mark has been correct with his facts, however, we did learn a few more!). The day all in all was a success for the East Haddam Swing Bridge's 100th Birthday Celebration and the birth of the first baby Osprey on the bridge (see Photo of the Day below)!
Looks like any Osprey nests that are going to have babies, have them. In most cases, Dad is hanging near the nest or bringing in fresh caught fish. A few people saw little heads pop up on one of the daymarkers.
We also saw a three year old Bald Eagle fly by. I'm sure there are many more eagles around, but, with the leaves on the trees, they are very hard to find.

Swing Bridge Ospreys:
We are thinking babies! Both parents were seen on the nest, one making feeding motions. Hatch date: 06-14-2013...the Swing Bridges 100th Birthday!
Eagles:
Goodspeed: Failed.
Lyme/Nott: One chick, fledged.
Old Lyme LT and BH: Two chicks, not sure if they have fledged yet.
